Why I Love Selling Massage Memberships
I wanted to share a secret with you on how I was able to scale my business very quickly.
But first, I should explain. When I first started doing massage.. I really was not interested in making it a business. However, I had had years of marketing and business schooling (not to mention I just love the world of business) and I just couldn't help but make it grow into one.
I started off with a big bang when I opened my doors because I signed my business up with Groupon. Those of you who don't live in the States, it's a company that sells coupons for local services (and much more.) Within the first few weeks I had 10-15 calls coming from clients who had already purchased my deals and were just calling in for their massages. I would schedule their massages and get paid every two weeks from Groupon. Within a month I realized I was sitting on a potential gold mine, and not to mention a full-time job. So I started coming up with a plan.
I needed a plan to scale my business in a way where I was seeing these discounted clients but also retaining them.
That's when I decided to leverage my business skills and I came up with a few different membership services. I opened a paypal account and setup a subscription button, placed on my site and started selling the crap out of them. I decided on charging $69.99 because my regular rates were $90 and most clients were paying Groupon $48 to come in for the first time. I felt that would be a great middle ground.
In the first month, by leveraging my email campaigns and other online marketing tools I was able to sign 18 people up. That was a whopping $1259.82, but the best part was that this amount would be coming in on a monthly basis.
Since then, we have continued to generate members this same way, except now I I don't really do massage anymore, because I spend most of my working time, teaching other massage therapists how to generate stable income with their massage businesses.
There is so much more to the process, but I hope this short story will give you one more idea for your marketing tool box!
Let me know what you think about this and if you have questions feel free to send them over.
