Why I Love Facebook Advertising (And You Should Too!)
Whenever I talk to my coaching clients about paid advertising, one of the first avenues we explore is Facebook Ads. The internet boom has literally become the perfect environment for entrepreneurs of all kinds. No matter how specific your niche is, chances of finding your audience online is very high-- and Facebook makes it extra easy.
Most of my private massage business consulting & strategy clients hire me to walk them through the details (and sometimes to even do the work for them!) Some of you may not be in a position financially to hire anyone but you have time and the motivation to learn. In this article I will be discussing the reasons why Facebook advertising is so unique (and effective). In later articles I will give you details on how to implement these strategies and how to get the most bang for your buck out of facebook.
The potential to target exactly who you want to serve, is endless on facebook. In fact, you don’t even need to get it exactly right the first time around because facebook will provide analytics that will give you insight into how your ads are performing. Take a look at this ad that I recently created for a client in Arizona who is coming up on a major Golf Season in their local area:
Our targeting for this specific ad ended up being males between the age of 45-65 who were interested specifically in Golf and had shown interest in golf courses and resorts that offered golf in the Scottsdale, AZ area. Before I created these ads I had actually promoted a blog about the benefits of massage for golfers that my client had written. From that ad we were able to fine tune our selection and ultimately target exactly the people that seemed most interested in getting massages.
If you test your ads and your ad groups efficiently, you will be able to get very low cost clicks (at least for now). I have gotten clicks on ads for as low as .001! Imagine the possibilities with even the smallest budget. While this can be done on other paid advertising platforms like google, it ends up being much harder. Facebook makes it even more affordable for you if you have tested and selected a relevant audience. So for example, this ad rate went from .34 when we were targeting males between the age of 18-65, but when I saw that the most popular clicks were coming from males between the ages of 44-65, we got rid of the other age groups and our rates went down to .19 cents . Pretty cool huh?
The ability to test what actually works is endless. The best part is that you can do a pretty thorough test with as little as $20. Facebook advertising beats other forms of advertising because you can easily find out what works and then make informed decisions on marketing campaigns and budgets. For example, if you test a campaign for $20 and find out you can get 100 clicks and 3 people actually book an appointment then you know that a $60 campaign will bring you 9 new clients. Assuming that your massages are at least $40, that ends up being a $300 profit margin!! I should stress that testing ads at first is the key. Finding the right audience and the right ads is essential, but once you’ve got the ones that work and the audience that works you can easily and affordably scale up.
