Facebook Advertising 101: Getting Started With Facebook Ads
Why should you use Facebook Ads?
Facebook Ads are very popular, because they are more advanced than other current social
media platforms. In addition, Facebook has been helping people get in front of their specific
targeted audience, on a more consistent basis (when compared to other sites).
Start with your fans, who have “liked” your business page on Facebook. Then you instruct
Facebook, that you want to target people that have similar interests, likes, behaviors and
activities, as your current fan base. Facebook will then do a comparison match, and provide
you with a list of additional contacts and potential customers.
Other options can include, targeting your competitors fan page, and individuals who are in line
with your business.
Graphics for Facebook ads
Graphics may not always be the best, first course of action, until your business is well
established. Focus on content
Facebook Grid Tool
If you are at the stage of using graphics in your ad, utilize the Facebook grid tool, to make sure
that the graphic only has 20% of text content.
Facebook ad text
There should be a headline, directly underneath the image, and a specific description. The
most vital piece of text will appear, directly above the image, and it should be a “yes” question.
For example, if you are helping people to break a sugar addiction, the “yes” question may be
something like: “Have you failed at breaking your addiction to sugar?” Then quickly, follow up
this question with a line or two of instruction, such as: “If so…don’t delay, in getting your FREE
copy by clicking on the link below”. This type of text has been proven to get the attention of
your targeted audience, and generate more income for your business.
To begin with, spend only $5 on each ad. As you watch and analysis the results, you can
increase the cost.
When To Change Ads
If you are not happy with something, like the cost per lead for instance, it is time to change
things up. Start by changing your image, and then allow it to run for three to five days, before
reviewing and analyzing the results. If you do not see any significant changes, try adjusting the
content. It is important not to change everything at once, as this process must be done one
step at a time, so that you will be able to identify the problem.
There are a couple of great tools available on Facebook for creating ads:
The Ad Creator is limited, as you will get less than 100 characters to use in your total text. But
overall, the majority of users prefer this tool, as it is easier to use.
Power Editor is limitless in its character availability, but it is a little more complex in usage.
Both options have call-to-action buttons available for you to choose from, such as “download”,
“click”, or “watch now”, and these should be incorporated into your ad.
